Green Wind Renewables joins Central Midlands High School for Science Week

As part of Science Week, the Green Wind Renewables team visited Central Midlands High School in Moora to talk with Year 8 students about wind energy.

The sessions explored how wind farms are developed, the different components of a wind farm, how turbines work, and what’s inside a nacelle. Students were also able to ask questions about energy use, technology, and the benefits of wind power in the region.

The team explained how turbine blades are designed and what materials are used to build them. Students were surprised to learn that blades can reach up to 90 metres in length and that a significant proportion of turbine components can be recycled at the end of their life.

Green Wind Renewables would like to thank Science Teacher Michelle Pond and the Central Midlands High School team for the invitation and for including us in their Science Week activities.
